Ah, June 16...the day on which Irish author James Joyce set his epic novel Ulysses. The weighty tome (all 700 or so pages of it) takes place over the course of just one day - June 16, 1904 - as the main character, Leopold Bloom, wanders the streets of Dublin, thinking deep thoughts and meeting all sorts of folk.
Cities all over the world celebrate Bloomsday every year...and so do we! Blue Planet gave Palm Beach County its very own Bloomsday celebration in 2009, and we had such a good time, we made it a tradition.
Join us next June 16 as local celebrities and ordinary folk take the stage and read from the book, Irish music plays, pints are raised, our nearly-famous James Joyce Look-Alike Contest unfolds, and merriment ensues.
Brush off your brogue, pull up a pint, and join us for an evening of all good things Irish. And while you're waiting for June to roll around, enjoy some pictures from Bloomsdays past.
